The Power of Illusions

I took this photo in Dublin, Ireland. A man is standing, resting on a wall where photos of other people are displayed, and at first glance he disappears in the background, becoming a part of the scene painted on the wall.

A deeper glance immediately reveals he is not part of the painting, but it is enough just for a second to be a victim of the illusion. It reminds me that things are not always what they seem and that we should not take for granted the information we receive from our senses. There is always a need for transparency, for “cleaning” the filters which are standing between us and reality. This is a daily task, it is an habit to gain, a way of life.

It is easy to create illusions with photography, but it can also reveal the illusions around us.
